Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church
History
Established 1895
Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church was organized and established in December of 1895, when Bro. Marion Peyton donated the land. The land deed was recorded on June 20, 1896. It was named Oak Grove because the area consisted of a grove of oak trees. The church has been located on the present site since its founding. Our present building was erected in 1951. The first pastor was Reverend Fields. The first church was built from bushes and was called “Bush Harbor.” During the years between 1895 through 1951, the church expanded and grew under the foresight of Reverend P. J. Carter, Reverend Argusta Brown, and Reverend Hurriah Brown.
